This last weekend, I was shopping at local outlet mall. In one of the shop, as I stood in line at the counter, a lady at front was arguing at top of her voice with cashier. She was not happy when asked for some photo identification. Apparently she had used credit card and cashier wanted to see her ID as part of store policy.
I personally feel that we as a customer should actually be comfortable with store asking for identity. Especially since we are living in age of identity theft. Credit cards do not have any pin in general and hence more prone to being misused in case of it getting lost or stolen. If every store checks the id of person using cards, chances of someone using someone else card would go down drastically. Ofcourse this would be an inconvenience but then isnt that much better than crying later on?
What do you think?

agree with you.... we should be open and just coz we have such an attitude and fight back the thievies take advantage of us...
hey I totally agree!!!infact we should appreciate the fact that they actually ask us for our ID's!!! like you said, in today's world it is only goin to help us if nuthing!
well i dont understand wats teh big deal even if she was asked to show her id..some ppl take it as if its against their dignity or something...wat crap!
Nothing wrong in showing your ID. Well if you are from a different state or a tourist people do ask when they ask for your telephone number/ zipcode.
Some ppl' make scence to show their power.
True, very true.
Same - i don't see the problem with showing ID if it is yours. I can't see how anyone could take offense to it. I worked at a supermarket for a year when i was in school and i was always amazed about how people signed the little credit slips - sometimes the signature was just in print and i would always think - it's so easy to copy that! I don't understand why credit cards just don't have a pin when you use EFTPOS.

yes with security comes inconvenience! :)
absolutely..we must have the basic sense of responsiblity within ourselves..blaming the govt comes later
That customer needs a reality check. Mebbe he/she was a real fraud...thats why there was such a big deal.
Keshi.
i dont mind ppl asking for my ID, bcoz i look like underaged, but for credit card fraud.. it is so humiliating!!
I don't have a problem with it at all, as long as they ask nicely.
u're right of course!
but seems like...it's more abt ppl being impatient & taking it as sum kind of personal bias rather than being unaware of the reason why...ppl get bugged wid obvious things...pity:(
on a personal note...how've u been?:) haven't been arnd blogs in a while...feels gud 2 b back!!:)
I agree with u completely...If paying my card, the id check is a must...Some characters like me dont have an ID other than some really imp id tht cant be carried out in public so I avoid paying by card in the outlet malls or I get someone else to pay...Asking for ones ID is also securing you, even if it maybe some sort of a pain!
Agree with you... Its better to be safe than sorry, rite...
correctaa sonna
u r right i say
I agree with you. Nobody should feel offended nowadays since anybody can be swindled anytime. After all,its the mall workers' jobs on the line.
i agree... i think we should try to make their job easy, that will help us also...
totally agree wid u
Ishi....I am doing good thanks. Just busy with family.
yes, what u said is correct.
Totally agree with u MG, we must be as much cooperative as we can, its for r benefit and not the stores, as they would get the money anyways, once the CC slip is signed.
yeah true! atleast to some extent...misuse can be stopped!
Hi, how are you? No update....
I agree with u
Ya, I think it makes sense but some people don't seem to realise the importance. Also, sometimes the store employees do not use the right tone or the right words for the same....
yep ppl shouldnt have issues with showing id its just in india how many actually carry photo ids with them?
totally agree..my cousin shopped on her spouses's debit card signed and got the stuff!!So its scarry when you know that its really easy for someone to just swipe and misuse ur card!!The icing on the cake here is she even signed her name not his!!
Completely agree with you ............ better look before we leap:)
no new posts, huh? :(
