Mideast Crisis

June 25 : Militants dig a big tunnel, attack Israeli Army Post, kill two israeli Army men, take Cpl. Gilad Shalit hostage. Same attack also kills two Israeli civilians. Israel threatens to attack Gaza unless soldier is returned. Israel starts offensive operations in Gaza Strip.

July 12 : Hizbollah militants ambuse Israeli soldiers, killing three and capturing two. Israel calls this act of war and demands its soldiers be released or face consequences. Israel starts to bomb Lebanon.

Simple questions : Who provocates who here? What were they really thinking?

Hundreds of civilians dead, thousands injured, property damaged beyond imagination, fear and starvation around. And what is Hizbollah leader Nasarallah broadcasting to world? That his army of Hezbollah is still intact. That means he is not at all worried about any kind of destruction and misery to people of Lebanon. All for two Israeli soldiers? So who is to be blamed for all this mess?

Hizbollah has been aimlessly firing rockets at Haifa and all over Israeli cities. Do they care for civilians? Are they not trying to provocate Israel as much as they can? Why are they crying foul when Israel responds? I am not defending Israel here. But Hezbollah is more at guilt especially when they started all this shit. May God protect people of Lebanon and Israel.

Questions which I dont get is why is no one in middle east or all those America/Israel bashers asking for return of kidnapped soldiers? Why are they only talking about Israel's response?

No matter what anyone says, terrorist activity is not justified. Be it any group, any country or any religion. There is no justification to any violence that cause misery to innocent civilians.

I am not sure how the medi aportrays it there. Here when we watch CNN, you have a view that is more with Lebanon and when you watch FOX, they say Hez provoked them....Well the portrayal in media pro israel is coz FOX is for Bush.

I too have the same questions...Someone started the fire and you ought to atleast talk more about it. Unfortunately civilians die and then Isreal is all the blame country...

The best way to reach and curb terrorism may not be an open attack but what else should they do? If someone comes and takes people out of my house, I will shoot the guys doing it and if others come in between, I am sad but I need to protect the raids done to people inside my house too right?

I am not looking at this issue with humanatarian eyes as if I do that Lebanon is suffering now more than Israel. But I have to fight the terrorists at the end of the day!

Whistling woods : Yes I did watch all that Hizbollah series. I do understand that there is more to thier history on hating Israel. But if I understood correctly, Israel was in process of withdrawing from Gaza(maybe slow), Hezbollah was being tolerated for its threats in the hope that once they get into political diplomatic process, things could have worked out.

What I also understand and the reason for my blog is that they kidnapped Israeli soldiers for sake of bargaining three of Hezbollah people in Israeli Jails. So the whole cause for Hezbollah was three people and the only reason they did IMHO was that they beleive this conflict to spiral out and get Iran and Syria involved.

Whatever may be the result, but for three people and thier cruel intentions(thats all I can say now), thousands and thousands of people have suffered. Worse is the fact that Hezbollah is still taunting the Israelis.

Now I am not supporting Israel or anyone here. This applies to anyone here. Same way we hate people who bombed Mumbai trains. What was thier logic. We all know who is supporting them with logistics and why. They say they want Kashmir. Do you think the problem will go away with them taking Kashmir? I do not think so. How far in History we will go to solve the problem?

They may have thier cause but they are destroying innocent lives. They are killing people. They are cruel and they are justifying violence. So they are nothing but damn Terrorists.

SCRIBBLEZ : Your last two paragraphs sums up the post perfectly. You have taken my words, literally.

Nothing more to say.

Thanks.

Unfortunately whether we like it or not...all of these wars are not countries fighting against each other..but a few individuals , a few egos a few self-interests fighting against each other..thats what causes the wars...

Thanks Anand.

Few individuals, few egos, that is what I was saying too. Hizbollahs is who I blame here for ego and mess.

Whistling woods, I am not saying you are supporting Hizbollah. I wrote this post because the plight of people suffering pains me too. Billions of dollars lost in property and hundreds of lives lost. Ofcourse I am pained. I was pained with Mumbai tragedy too. So do we forgive them for killing innocent people for whatever cause they stand?

We don't like Hitler, we dont like Veerapan, we don't like LTTE. Because they kill-ed people.

I had only one point to make. Plight of innocent people in this war is direct result of Hezbollah's stupidity, thier ego and thier vested interest.

Thanks for your comments. Peace as usual.

Whistling, when are you going to update your blog?

this part.....'No matter what anyone says, terrorist activity is not justified. Be it any group, any country or any religion. There is no justification to any violence that cause misery to innocent civilians'......could not have been written in any more clearer way. Thats it, in black and white, that is it. A very powerful statement you have made. I don't even pretend to understand the politics and reasonings of the people in those conflicts...I am just too far away from that situation and unfortunately can chose to be niave if I want, but that doesn't mean that I don't feel for the innocent, that I don't greive for the loss, and that I am not angered by the indignity of it all. Your statement represents all that I believe. Great writing!

I'm almost sure I know another blogspot blog that is also named "Random Thoughts". I know why the name is so popular, cuz we all have random things to say, and that way we are not limited or restricted in our topics.

Good job with the blog.

Flora, I just penned this heading and then realized that 'Random thoughts' is overused. I liked it because I could talk whatever I want to, without staying in some category circle. Yeah, just as you said.

Thanks for stopping by.

And yes, I might actually change this header, someday.
